In Acts 2, on the Day of Pentecost, the Jews were bringing to God the first fruit of the wheat harvest in to the Jerusalem Temple. At the same time, the disciples, empowered by the Holy Spirit were bringing to God a spiritual harvest.
Methods and patterns are helpful, but the Holy Spirit is essential for bringing in the spiritual harvest. He empowers us to do the Great Commission.
Lostness
When we label people, by their religious background for example, we can become fearful of that label. Instead lets see people who are without Jesus the way He sees them, as “lost“.
Having a heart for the lost is extremely important. We need His heart to motivate us.
Activities
Prayerfully reflect on the role of the Holy Spirit in your vision for Disciple Making Movements (DMMs):
- Where do you see the Holy Spirit active, from evangelism to disciple making to multiplying churches? How will this affect what you do practically?
- Are there “labels” of religion for example that you are afraid of? Spend time in pray and ask for the boldness that comes from the Holy Spirit.
- Do you have a heart for the lost? If not, ask for His heart, so that you are motivated by love for the lost, not by achieving human goals.
