Five Skills

by | Sep 15, 2021 | Articles, HMT Outline

How did you get on with sharing your goals with other people? Did they respond in a positive way, and could you work with them towards the goal of starting Disciple Making Movements (DMMs) in your focus location? Jesus modelled to His disciples about going in teams, minimum in twos. We need to do the same.

Today we will look at the five basic skills needed to start DMMs.

Go to page 7 to 10 of the FREE Training PDF and watch the video below. If the video doesn’t work please click here.

The five skills are outlined in Jesus’ interaction with the Samaritan woman in John chapter 4. The skills are:

  1. Get Connected
  2. Telling My Story
  3. Sharing the Gospel
  4. Lead People to Believe and Baptise Them
  5. Disciple in Groups.

Activities

Take time to work on the five basic skills. Skills can always be improved. We rely on the Holy Spirit, but God also use our mouths and our life testimonies.

  • Make a list of five people you know who are without Jesus. Set a regular time to pray for them.
  • Prepare and practice telling testimonies of what God has done in your life. Practice and aim to tell your stories with someone in less than five minutes each. Don’t use religious words that only believers understand.
  • Prepare and practice telling the Gospel, Jesus’ story. Practice and aim to share it with someone in less than five minutes. Please look at page 8 of the Introduction to One Field One Goal Approach pdf for an example of a Gospel sharing tool. You may use other tools if you wish.
  • What will you do after you share the Gospel?

We hope you, and the people you’re working with, will go on improving in the five skills. Stay tuned for the next email in this Free Introductory Training.
