Lacking boldness - do you see labels?
What cultural, social status or religious issues are you intimidated by when sharing about Jesus? Stop seeing people with “labels” – as if these things are the main problem to overcome. See them as Lost, a spiritual reality. Labels can breed fear, or feelings of intimidation.
Is the Harvest Ripe and Plentiful?
Is the harvest ripe and plentiful in your location? It is too easy for our hearts and minds to be weighed down by problems because of a small harvest, or what looks like hard ground.
Some people have the joy of a plentiful harvest when it comes to reaching unreached peoples. They have to struggle with difficult issues and problems because of a large harvest in their focus location. For many faithful laborers though, the struggle associated with a plentiful and large harvest seems so far away. They have to deal with crippling feelings about a small harvest and or what looks like hard ground.
So what will you DO WITH NEW FOLLOWERS of Jesus?
This is possibly the most important question in world missions, maybe even more important than how you get a new believer. If we answer well the “what to do with new followers” question, we can equip them with a spiritual DNA to become multipliers themselves in their context.
Key Apostolic Activities in the Book of Acts.
In the book of Acts there appears to be six fruitful activities repeated over and again. These apostolic activities established many people as disciples of Jesus. They also established movements of churches throughout the Roman world, and beyond. A clear example of this is in Acts 14:1-7 and 14:21-23. This is one story in two parts, with all six activities happening.
Are you a multiplier?
What questions do you need to ask if you want to reach a large population segment? Especially one that has significant cultural, religious, political or geographic barriers? To start, the questioning needs to shift from “how can I, or my team reach them”, over to “how can the locals do this if we help trigger things and equip them”.
What is a church and how do you multiply it?
Ordinary, everyday people can start fellowships and churches. It is a matter of how you define what a church is, and how you think they multiply. The church at Antioch was started by nameless persecuted people who took initiative (Acts 11:19), yet it grew. This church sent out people and multiplied to have significant regional influence. Our beliefs about what defines a church and its multiplication is a key to the completion of world missions.
